Twentyfour artists immersed themselves in the powerful presence of the building and they each took over one of the 24 identical rooms. I had one of those rooms and made this space specific sculpture.

The building Zonnestraal was built by the Dutch architect Jan Duiker and now nominated for the World Heritage List of UNESCO. We made use of the lucent design of Duiker and decided not to use artificial light.

Made in 2014 with different kinds of wood, colour pencil, acrylic paint and bronze. Size: 120 x 130 x 50 cm

Suns and Stars was invited to stay at the Dresselhuyspaviljoen on the Estate Zonnestraal, in the middle of the forest. This beautiful complex hosted ‘The Daylight Show’.
